Paul Davis studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York, and cemented his reputation as a designer while working for the Push-pin Studio. Prolific as an illustrator and book cover designer, he also made a great contribution to the art of Broadway theatrical posters, such as these, in which he made dramatic use of natural imagery: Three Penny Opera, Streamers, Henry V and Colored Girls who have Considered SuicideModern American 173, American Style 24.
